We hired Jerry’s Hardwood Floors in March 2004 to demo our kitchen, entry, formal dining room, great room and hallway and install Mirage Red Oak hardwood flooring in those areas. The job consisted of removing ceramic tile, vinyl flooring and carpeting and installing the above mentioned hardwood flooring in those areas.
John came when he said and did a very professional job. We were very happy with the craftsmanship of the installation and the method of his installation. We had looked at some of his previous jobs before making the decision to hire him and he performed at the level we had seen and hoped for. He kept the kept the mess during installation to a minimum and cleaned up after the job was complete. John also took the time to explain how to clean the hardwood floors and gave us a bottle of cleaner. In October of 2006 we had termites and John came in and took up the boards for the termite technician to drill and inject the termite spray. When he was complete, John came back immediately and reinstalled new boards and the job was amazing. You can’t tell where they had to do the repair work. Unfortunately, we had to go thru the same process again in December 2006 and again John came when asked and did a tremendous job of removing and replacing the planks of hardwood. We became a customer of Mr. Askew more than 5 years ago, when he installed our first flooring and staircase. Mr. Askew was highly recommended at this time and we were completely satisfied with his craftsmanship. Since then we have had Mr. Askew install hardwood flooring in two additional rooms. He has always been both professional and meticulous with his work. We recently had a pipe break in our home and our floors were ruined by the flood. This letter is in regards to John Askew, doing business under the professional name of “Jerry’s Hardwood” in Fresno, Ca. Mr. Askew worked on my floors in Sept. 2006. The job consisted of sanding and refinishing three rooms of old oak hardwood flooring. He gave me a written estimate which, based on my experience, I felt was a fair price. He estimated that the job would take one week. He also advised me that the flooring in the three rooms was of different oak than the two rooms which had already been refinished and that the color would be different from those floors. Mr. Askew showed up when he said he would and finished the job on time. He was always courteous and considerate of my schedule and inconvenience during the process. He was very professional at all times and kept me apprised of what he was doing and what to expect as the next step. He did an excellent job and I remembered being pleased that he was continuing his father’s reputation for good work. John Askew, owner of Jerry’s Hardwood, completed a refinishing job at my home this past November. I appreciated his professionalism, honesty, courtesy, and work ethic. When he began the initial sanding, he took the time to explain which damage and stains would unlikely sand out so that we could make an informed decision early on about how to proceed. He always kept me informed about what hours he would work each day throughout the job, and always worked within that timeframe. When it came time to choose a stain, we selected from the choices of stain he provided when giving the initial bid weeks prior. After testing the stain on the floor, he offered to test other colors, and even blend them if we wanted. He also gave us 24 hours to make a final decision. Now, when the entire floor was stained with our chosen shade, it did seem lighter than we expected. Just as with paint, the color you pick looks a little different covering an entire house, than it did when you tested it in a small area. We love our floor. It often reminds me of a dance studio. It’s great. Throughout the job, John checked in to see if we were happy with the outcome up to that point. We are very happy, and also that he has reasonable prices.
